The Department of Business Administration has organised “Extension Activity of Nirmalya Collection and Compost creation” for the Academic year 2023-24 for the students of SYBBA and SABBA-IB. The students had collected “Nirmalya” (the leftover that contains stale flowers and other remains, which were offered to the deity earlier) from religious places, festivals and their respective homes which are often discarded in rivers and other water bodies, causing environmental pollution. Total 243 Students of SYBBA and SYBBA-IB performed this activity as a compulsory activity for the award of 1 Extra Credit as per the norms of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU). Students played a crucial role in preserving the environment and promoting responsible citizenship.
This report provides an overview of Nirmalya collection initiatives conducted by Department of Business Administration highlighting their objectives, methods, and impact.
A) Environmental Conservation: To reduce pollution caused by the immersion of religious offerings and flowers into water bodies, thereby safeguarding aquatic ecosystems.
B) Public Awareness: To raise awareness among the community about the
importance of eco-friendly rituals and the detrimental effects of water
pollution.
C) Student Engagement: To involve college students in community service
and instill a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
Nirmalya collection activities led by college students have played a pivotal role in environmental conservation. By reducing water pollution, raising awareness and fostering a sense of responsibility, these initiatives have contributed to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
