Report On Soap Making Workshop

In a bid to foster creativity and skill development, a workshop on soap making was conducted on 8th November at the MMCC under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Snehal Borkar – Student Development Officer. The event attracted participants from various class, eager to delve into the world of handcrafted soap.

Led by experienced faculty Asst. Prof. Gurmeet Kaur Rajpal who is also a soap artisan. The workshop covered fundamental techniques, from selecting base ingredients to mastering the art of scent blending. Participants were introduced to the chemistry behind soap making and gained practical insights into creating personalised soap bars.

The engaging session allowed attendees to experiment with a variety of natural additives, ragrances, and colouring agents, promoting a holistic understanding of the soap-making process. Asst. Prof. Gurmeet Kaur Rajpal shared tips on sustainable practices and the use of eco-friendly materials, aligning with the growing trend of environmentally conscious crafting.

Attendees expressed enthusiasm for the workshop’s hands-on approach, emphasising the importance of such student development events in fostering creativity and skill-sharing. Many participants left the workshop with the idea of trying to make handmade soaps in future surely.

The success of this soap-making workshop highlights the student development forum to embrace artisanal crafts and sustainable practices. A total of 49 students benefited from this soap making workshop.

The workshop was anchored by Dr. Punam Shinde, Technical Support provided by Dr. Sandip Anpat, Thanks giving done by Asst. Prof. Sanika Kulkarni.
